  • Project Description

Originally the Sydney Metropolitan Water, Sewerage & Drainage Board the 1939 Art Deco style Building was added to the NSW Heritage register in 2002 and is now newly renovated & restored operating as Sydney Primus Hotel. The original office building circa late 1800's with extensions and renovations in the early 1900's was demolished and replaced in the 1930's with work completed in 1939 in elaborate Art deco style architecture to reflect the importance of the institution. The experienced team at Sydney Pressed Metal worked with NSW Heritage to restore the undercroft ceiling to its former Art Deco splendour. Possibly one of the most elaborate, high quality and well detailed institutional Art Deco buildings in Sydney no expense was spared, with even the lower level including design and detail in the form of pressed metal ceilings and pressed metal cornice in Art Deco inspired design. The Sydney Pressed Metal Team carefully removed the original damaged pressed metal and new dies were made to exact details of the original panels. The new die, Ridge Panel was then installed with Rope Cornice replacing like for like. The original Rope Cornice die was in existence and was refurbished to provide a perfect finish.
