Project DescriptionAdelaide Pressed Metal worked closely with International Design Solutions on the oppulent fitout of the Ghan & Indian Pacific Trains Club carriages & First Class dining carriages. The brief was to create an interior reminiscent of vintage luxury & splendour. The pressed metal design Bodkin was chosen by the designers & expertly installed by the Adelaide Pressed Metal team. The installation of pressed metal to train carriages included unique challenges, including using limited fixings to create a seamless finish while allowing for movement, flex & buckling in extreme temperature fluctuations ranging from heat up to 70 degrees Celcius & cold down to -6 degrees Celcius. The low ceilings of the carriages required a high end & seamless finish while also allowing for movement of the carriages. This was achieved through the extensive knowledge of the Adealaide Pressed Metal team devising a custom installation system. Once installed, Adelaide Pressed Metal painted the panels in a specialty 2Pac metal flake paint in a high gloss Champagne colour giving the panels 5-6 coats for maximum impact & a luxurious finish.
