  • Project Description
Adelaide Pressed Metal worked closely with Builder Marshall & Brougham Constructions Pty. Ltd. on the restoration & replacement of pressed metal elements on heriage listed Davaar House originally built for wine & spirit merchant William Johnston in 1876. Works carried out by Adelaide Pressed Metal on the custom orb & canopy included reframing the awning & replacing the roof with pressed metal panels in Fishscale design to match the original & installing the orb base with pressed metal panels in Pebblecrete design replacing the original pebbledash. The decision was made to replace the original pebbledash, which is made up of a combination of wire, aggregate & plaster and is a heavy cladding, with Pebblecrete in aluminium pressed metal panels was due to the original framing being compromised over the years. The Pebblecrete pressed metal being a much lighter cladding would negate the need to rework the structural supports while giving the same asthetic. The two bay window roofs were also repaired & replaced like for like to match the original. The bay roof on the Eastern side was unpicked, patched, repaired & restored & the bay roof on the Western side was completely replaced due to irreparable damage due to weathering & lack of maintenance over the years. The rope batten detail along the ridge of each bay was pressed in soft zinc making it pliable to follow the curves of each roof and the Egg & Darte cornice in aluminium was used as a decorative fascia around each of the bay roofs to match the original.
