Project Description
Adelaide Pressed Metal were approached by the owners of the Mayfair Hotel to provide design advice to create an impressive design feature for the luxury Mayfair hotel. Two designs were chosen, Flourish design as the main feature panel and Stockholm design to create a border. There were challenges as to the setting out of the patterns for the maximum visual impact as the length of the verandahs and the return at the corner of King William and Hindley Streets created a unique problem as the verandah narrowed considerably at the corner junction. This issue was overcome with the vast experience and expertise of Phil Cooymans and the design flowed seamlessly. The panels were installed by Adelaide Pressed Metal under tight work schedules and strict traffic management conditions and painted white by a contractor. The white finish was not the luxury effect that the client had envisaged and it was decided to create a maximum luxury effect using copper panels and painting the border panels gloss black. Adelaide Pressed Metal had an extremely tight working schedule as this decision was made only weeks before Christmas but turned around the production of the copper panels and installed them over several nights with minimal disruption to city Christmas shoppers.
